Born in Vancouver , B.C, Miriam Clare spent her early years growing up outside of London , England . Her father, president of a large International Mining company, moved the family to United States . It was in New York City that she ended up working for Polo-Ralph Lauren and eventually award-winning fashion designer Alexander Julian as National Sales Director for his couture menswear line. International fashion couture phenomenon Thierry Mugler recruited Miriam as the sales & marketing director for their couture line in the United States . There Miriam directed sales between Paris and the U.S.for the largest upscale department stores in the country including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman-Marcus, Bergdorff Goodman, Barney’s and Nordstrom’s. Miriam coordinated conspicuous advertising and marketing efforts through media: Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Vanity Fair, New York Times Magazine -Fashion. In addition she worked directly with the designer to showcase the line in the first televised VH1 fashion & Music Awards and other spectacular fashion shows featuring current international supermodels and celebrities including Jerry Hall, Sharon Stone, Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige, Patty, Ivana Trump, Liza Minelli, Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Cindy Crawford.
In 1997 Miriam moved to Utah and married Michael Kearns a publishing executive and an owner of Kearns-Tribune Corp., publisher of Utah ’s largest newspaper, The Salt Lake Tribune. She and her husband founded the nationally award-winning Utah Homes & Garden and architectureUTAH magazines.
